Activity A3.1 “Interregional workshop on developing measures to promote civic participation and engagement” of the BIOWIND project foresees the organization of an interregional workshop to exchange experience and discuss the common challenges and gaps in policies that inhibit community engagement during the different phases of wind energy projects and to elaborate ideas on policy measures that could foster civic participation in wind energy projects. The workshop was organized by the Northern and Western Regional Assembly (NWRA) and took place from 19-20 September 2023 in Sligo, Ireland.

The event was the first time that the project partners from eight different countries met, even if only virtually. At the beginning of the meeting, the partners introduced themselves and their organisations, describing the activities of their organisations and highlighting how they relate to the activities planned in the project.

The following two papers were accepted and will be presented at the European, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern Conference on Information Systems (EMCIS 2023) on 11- 12 December 2023, Dubai, UAE:

The paper with title "On the Development of a Novel Chatbot Generator Architecture: Design and Assessment Issues" was accepted and presented at the 8th IEEE International Conference on. Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and Industry. Athens, Greece, October 14-16.

The search for suitable locations for wind parks is in the spotlight of European renewable energy policies. Last week, the EUKI-funded #Wind4Bio project arranged a study tour to a future wind park site in Zemgale Region, Latvia.
Our visit included a trip to Laflora Latvija, a local peat company, where we learned about their plan to transform former peat extraction fields into a green industrial area. This development would involve a 90-110 MW wind park along with 88 MW of agrovoltaics, greenhouses, and energy-intensive production facilities.

On Wednesday, March 29 2023, at Innovathens, the Distributed Systems and Telematics Laboratory of the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department participated in the Open Day of the Pythia project, in which more than 400 stakeholders interested in Artificial Intelligence participated, and discussed on good practices and how the Pythia project will contribute to the development of know-how and significant results.

The kick-off meeting of the Wind4Bio project was hosted by University of Patras at the Conference & Cultural Centre of the University of Patras at University Campus of Patras, in Greece, on the 31st of January 2023, with the participation of all project partners.
